The Unfurling Flag
(A declamation poem about the American flag, meant to be delivered with passionate intensity and dramatic gestures.)
A crimson field, a star-spangled night,
A beacon of freedom, burning ever bright.
Beneath its folds, a nation arose,
United in purpose, defying its foes.
From the shores of the Atlantic, to the peaks of the West,
This banner of liberty, has stood the test.
Through battles and triumphs, through peace and through strife,
It's flown with defiance, throughout our nation's life.
(Pause, raising hand to chest)
Each stripe a memory, each star a shining tear,
For those who fought bravely, and conquered their fear.
From Valley Forge's frost, to Gettysburg's blood,
They spilled their life's essence, for the greater good.
(Voice rises, eyes widening)
It's not just a symbol, it's a promise enshrined,
Of liberty's spirit, forever entwined.
In the hearts of the people, it's a flame that burns strong,
A testament to freedom, where it rightfully belongs.
(Slow down, voice calming)
So let it wave proudly, above our land so vast,
A symbol of unity, forever to last.
For the flag of America, is more than just cloth,
It's the embodiment of hope, of courage, and of love.
(Hold final pose, flag flying in the background)
