What part of speech is an action word?

An action word is a verb.

Verbs describe actions, states of being, or occurrences. They are the core of a sentence and tell us what is happening.

Here are some examples of verbs:

* Action verbs: run, jump, sing, eat, write

* State of being verbs: be, seem, appear, feel, look

* Occurence verbs: happen, occur, become, change
