Is the word to a verb?

"To" is not a verb. It is a preposition.

Here's why:

* Prepositions show the relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in the sentence. They often indicate location, direction, or time.

* Verbs are words that describe actions or states of being.

For example, in the sentence "I went to the store," "to" is a preposition showing the direction of the action (went). "Went" is the verb.
