What part of speech is camping?

"Camping" can be two different parts of speech, depending on its use in a sentence:

* Noun: When it refers to the activity of staying outdoors in a tent or other temporary shelter.

* Example: "We went camping in the mountains last weekend."

* Verb: When it describes the act of setting up camp or staying outdoors.

* Example: "We're camping by the lake for a week."

So, the part of speech depends on its function within the sentence.
