What are the two kinds of verb?

The two main kinds of verbs are action verbs and linking verbs.

Action Verbs describe an action that the subject of the sentence performs.

* Examples:

* The dog ran across the park.

* She plays the piano.

* He wrote a letter.

Linking Verbs connect the subject of a sentence to a word or phrase that renames or describes the subject.

* Examples:

* He is happy. (The word "happy" describes the subject "he".)

* My cat is a Maine Coon. (The phrase "a Maine Coon" renames the subject "my cat".)

Important Note: While these are the two main categories, there are other ways to classify verbs, like:

* Transitive verbs require a direct object (the thing receiving the action).

* Intransitive verbs don't require a direct object.

* Auxiliary verbs help other verbs form different tenses or moods.

Understanding the different types of verbs is crucial for constructing grammatically correct and clear sentences.
