Why is an exclamatory sentence called and sentence?

There seems to be a misunderstanding!

Exclamatory sentences are not called "and" sentences.

An exclamatory sentence is a type of sentence that expresses strong emotion, surprise, excitement, or urgency. It usually ends with an exclamation mark (!).

"And" sentences, on the other hand, are not a recognized grammatical term. It is possible you are thinking of compound sentences, which are sentences that contain two or more independent clauses joined together by a conjunction, such as "and", "but", "or", etc.

For example:

* Exclamatory sentence: Wow! That's a beautiful sunset!

* Compound sentence: The sun set, and the sky turned a vibrant orange.
