What are three types of verbs?

Here are three types of verbs, along with brief explanations:

1. Action Verbs: These verbs describe actions, whether physical or mental.

* Examples: run, jump, think, write, eat, sleep.

2. Linking Verbs: These verbs connect the subject of a sentence to a noun, pronoun, or adjective that renames or describes the subject.

* Examples: is, are, was, were, seem, become, appear.

* Sentence Example: "The sky *is* blue." ("Blue" describes the sky.)

3. Helping Verbs (Auxiliary Verbs): These verbs assist the main verb in a sentence to express tense, mood, or voice. They are often used to form compound verb phrases.

* Examples: do, have, will, can, should, may, might, must, could, would.

* Sentence Example: "I *have* been running." (The main verb is "running," but "have" helps to form the present perfect tense.)
