What type of pronoun follows a linking verb?

A linking verb connects a subject to a subject complement, which can be a noun or an adjective.

Subject complements are usually nominative pronouns, which are the pronouns used for the subject of a sentence. These are:

* I

* You

* He

* She

* It

* We

* They

* Who

Example:

* "The winner is she." (She is the subject complement and is a nominative pronoun)

Important note:

While the subject complement often follows a linking verb, it can also appear *before* the verb in a sentence.

Example:

* "She is the winner." (She is still the subject complement and a nominative pronoun)
