When are adjectives used in a sentence?

Adjectives are used in a sentence to modify or describe nouns or pronouns. They provide more information about the noun or pronoun, telling us things like:

* What kind: *beautiful* house, *red* car, *funny* joke

* How many: *three* cats, *several* books, *many* people

* Which one: *this* chair, *that* book, *those* flowers

* Whose: *my* dog, *her* car, *their* house

Here are some examples of how adjectives are used in sentences:

* The tall man walked down the street. (Describing the man's height)

* He bought a new car. (Describing the car's age)

* We saw five birds in the tree. (Describing the number of birds)

* She has a bright smile. (Describing her smile's quality)

Important Note: Adjectives usually come before the noun or pronoun they describe. However, there are some exceptions, like when an adjective is used as a complement after a linking verb (e.g., "The house is big.").
