When a period is used within parenthesis at the end of sentence would you also put outside parenthesis?

This is a great question! Here's the rule:

The period goes INSIDE the parentheses ONLY if the entire sentence is enclosed in parentheses.

Example:

* (This is a complete sentence.)

However, if the parentheses contain a phrase or clause that is part of a larger sentence, the period goes OUTSIDE the parentheses.

Example:

* The dog ran to the park (his favorite place).

Here's a helpful way to think about it:

* Complete sentence within parentheses? Period goes inside.

* Part of a sentence within parentheses? Period goes outside.

Let me know if you have any other grammar questions! 😊
