Does tonight mean at night in old English?

"Tonight" as a single word didn't exist in Old English.

Instead, they would have used phrases like:

* "Tō nihte" (meaning "to night") for "tonight"

* "On þǣre nihte" (meaning "on the night") for "this night" or "tonight"

So, while the meaning was similar, the actual words used were different.
