What part of speech is basic?

"Basic" can be several parts of speech, depending on how it's used in a sentence:

* Adjective: Describing a noun. Example: "This is a basic understanding of the concept."

* Noun: Referring to the fundamentals or essentials. Example: "We need to go back to the basics."

* Adverb: Modifying a verb, adjective, or another adverb. Example: "I basically understand what you're saying."

The context of the sentence will determine the specific part of speech.
