How do you say not in French?

The most common way to say "not" in French is "ne... pas".

Here's how it works:

* Ne goes before the verb.

* Pas goes after the verb.

For example:

* Je ne mange pas. (I don't eat.)

* Il ne parle pas français. (He doesn't speak French.)

* Elle ne va pas à l'école. (She doesn't go to school.)

Important Note:

In some cases, the "ne" can be omitted, especially in informal speech. For example:

* J'ai pas faim. (I'm not hungry.)

* Il va pas bien. (He's not well.)

However, using "ne...pas" is always grammatically correct.
