Can the word to be an adjective?

The word "to" is a preposition, not an adjective.

Here's why:

* Prepositions show the relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in the sentence. For example, "He walked to the store."

* Adjectives describe nouns or pronouns. For example, "He wore a red shirt."

While "to" can sometimes appear in a phrase that acts as an adjective, "to" itself doesn't have the grammatical function of an adjective.
