How do you use says in a sentence?

"Says" is most commonly used in a sentence to introduce a direct quote or to report what someone said. Here are some examples:

Introducing a direct quote:

* "I'm going to the store," says John.

* "The weather is beautiful today," says Sarah.

* "Don't forget to bring your keys," says Mom.

Reporting what someone said:

* John says he's going to the store.

* Sarah says the weather is beautiful today.

* Mom says we shouldn't forget our keys.

Note: "Says" can also be used to introduce a statement that is not necessarily a direct quote.

* The report says the economy is improving.

* The sign says "No Parking."

* The doctor says I need more rest.
