Two kinds of a verb is called?

There are two main ways to categorize verbs, depending on what you're focusing on:

1. Transitive vs. Intransitive:

* Transitive verbs require a direct object. They "transfer" action to something or someone.

* Example: "The dog chased the ball." (The ball is the direct object.)

* Intransitive verbs do not take a direct object. They express an action or state of being without affecting anything else.

* Example: "The cat slept."

2. Regular vs. Irregular:

* Regular verbs form their past tense and past participle by adding "-ed" to the base form.

* Example: "walk" - "walked" - "walked"

* Irregular verbs have unpredictable past tense and past participle forms.

* Example: "go" - "went" - "gone"

So, depending on your context, you could say:

* "Two kinds of verbs are transitive and intransitive."

* "Two kinds of verbs are regular and irregular."
