What does as of mean?

"As of" is a phrase used to indicate a specific point in time. It means "from a particular date or time onwards."

Here are some examples:

* "As of today, the price of gas has increased." This means that the price increase happened today, and the new price will be in effect from now on.

* "As of January 1st, 2023, the new tax law will be in effect." This means that the new law is effective from the beginning of the year.

* "The report is accurate as of the time it was written." This means the information in the report is current up to a specific date.

Essentially, "as of" is like a starting point or cut-off point for a situation. It tells you that something has changed at that specific time and will continue from that point forward.
