Is a noun or pronoun?

"A" is a determiner.

It's a word that comes before a noun to specify which noun you're talking about. It's like a little helper that tells us how many or which one.

Examples:

* A dog (one dog)

* A beautiful day (one beautiful day)

While it's often used with nouns, it's not a noun or pronoun itself.
