Why names part of the dictionary?

Names are not technically part of a dictionary in the traditional sense. A dictionary is a collection of words and their definitions. Names, while words, are not typically defined in dictionaries.

Here's why:

* Names are proper nouns: They refer to specific people, places, or things. Dictionaries focus on common nouns and verbs, which have general meanings.

* Names have no inherent definition: They are given to individuals or things and don't describe any inherent qualities or characteristics.

* Names are countless: There are millions of names, making it impractical to list them all in a dictionary.

However, you may find certain names listed in dictionaries for specific reasons:

* Historical figures: Famous names may be included with biographical information.

* Geographical locations: Names of countries, cities, and other locations might appear in a geographical dictionary.

* Character names in literature: Well-known fictional characters may have entries in literary dictionaries.

So, while names are words, they are not typically defined in dictionaries due to their specific nature and vast number.
