What are the two different meanings of word time?

The word "time" has many meanings, but here are two of the most common and distinct ones:

1. Time as a Duration: This refers to the passage of moments and the measure of how long something lasts. Think of these examples:

* "It took me an hour to get here." (The duration of the journey)

* "The movie is two hours long." (The duration of the movie)

* "I need more time to finish this project." (The need for a longer duration)

2. Time as a Point: This refers to a specific moment or position within the sequence of events. Think of these examples:

* "What time is it?" (Asking for the current position in the sequence of hours)

* "We'll meet at 3 o'clock." (Specifying a specific point in the sequence of hours)

* "I remember that day like it was yesterday." (Recalling a specific point in the past)

These are just two of the many ways we use the word "time". It can also be used to refer to historical periods, personal experiences, or even abstract concepts like "time travel" or "the time of my life."
