What words are oddballs?

It's hard to say what words are "oddballs" without knowing what criteria you're using! Do you mean:

* Words with unusual spellings or pronunciations? Examples include "pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis" (a lung disease!), "fjord", and "queue".

* Words with strange meanings? Examples include "schadenfreude" (pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others), "sonder" (the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own), and "apophenia" (the tendency to perceive meaningful patterns in random or meaningless data).

* Words with unusual origins or histories? Examples include "robot" (from a Czech word for "forced labor"), "mug" (from a type of earthenware drinking vessel), and "bungalow" (from a Hindi word for "house").

Please tell me more about what you're looking for, and I'll be happy to help!
