Who or what does the action being in a sentence?

The subject of a sentence is the person, place, thing, or idea that performs the action.

Here's how to find the subject:

1. Identify the verb: The verb is the action word in the sentence.

2. Ask "who?" or "what?" before the verb: The answer is the subject.

Example:

* The cat chased the mouse.
