Who started the word Groovy?

The term "Groovy" as a programming language was first coined by James Strachan, a British computer programmer who developed the language in 2003.

However, the word "groovy" itself has existed long before that, meaning "stylish, excellent, or impressive." So while Strachan originated the language name, the word itself had a long history before its use in programming.
