What part of speech is the word spontaneous?

"Spontaneous" is an adjective.

Here's why:

* It describes a noun: We can say "a spontaneous outburst," "a spontaneous reaction," or "a spontaneous decision." In each case, "spontaneous" modifies the noun, telling us something about its quality.

* It answers the question "what kind?": When you ask "what kind of outburst?" the answer could be "spontaneous."
