What part of speech is harmless?

"Harmless" is an adjective.

Here's why:

* It describes a noun: You can say "a harmless joke" or "a harmless animal."

* It doesn't act as a verb, adverb, or preposition: It doesn't describe an action, modify another word, or show a relationship between words.
