Do you capitalize temperature in a sentence?

You generally do not capitalize "temperature" in a sentence unless it's part of a proper noun.

Here are some examples:

* Correct: The temperature outside is 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

* Correct: The scientists measured the temperature of the water.

* Correct: The room was kept at a comfortable temperature.

Exception:

* Correct: The University of Temperature Control is located in California.

In this example, "Temperature" is part of the proper noun "University of Temperature Control," so it is capitalized.
