Nouns that end in z add es?

That's not quite right. Nouns ending in "z" generally add "es" to form the plural, but there are some exceptions. Here's a breakdown:

General Rule:

* Nouns ending in "z" form their plural by adding "es":

* buzz -> buzzes

* quiz -> quizzes

* blitz -> blitzes

Exceptions:

* Words ending in "zz" simply add "s":

* fizz -> fizzes

* buzz -> buzzes

* Words ending in "ch", "sh", "x", or "s" also add "es":

* box -> boxes

* church -> churches

* wish -> wishes
