Why is jeudi called in french?

"Jeudi" is the French word for Thursday. It comes from the Latin "dies Jovis" which means "day of Jupiter."

The day of Jupiter, or Jove, was considered the fifth day of the week in the Roman calendar. This name was adopted by the French language and evolved into "Jeudi."
