"The dog ran down the street... and then what happened?"
In this example, the ellipsis (...) is used to indicate that something has been left out of the sentence. It can be used to:
* Show a pause or hesitation in speech.
* Suggest that there is more to be said.
* Create a dramatic effect.
* Show that a thought is incomplete.
