What part of speech is the word lately?

"Lately" is an adverb.

Here's why:

* It modifies verbs: It tells us *when* something happened or is happening. For example, "I've been feeling tired lately."

* It can also modify adjectives or other adverbs: "I've been feeling lately tired," or "I've been feeling very tired lately."
