Did the Greeks ever use quills?

It's highly unlikely that the ancient Greeks used quills. Here's why:

* Quills were developed much later: Quills, made from bird feathers, were primarily used in Europe during the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods (roughly 5th to 16th centuries). This is much later than the classical Greek period (8th to 1st centuries BC).

* Ancient Greek Writing: The ancient Greeks primarily used reed pens (kalamos) for writing on papyrus. These pens were made from the hollow stems of reeds, and the sharpened tips were used to apply ink.

* Other Materials: While reeds were the most common, some evidence suggests the Greeks might have also used other materials for writing like sharpened sticks or bone.

Therefore, while the Greeks were skilled writers and used writing extensively, they likely didn't utilize quills as a writing tool.
