What part of speech is effective?

"Effective" can be several parts of speech, depending on how it's used in a sentence:

* Adjective: Describes a noun. Example: "She gave an effective presentation."

* Adverb: Modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb. Example: "He effectively communicated his ideas."

* Noun: Refers to something that produces a desired result. Example: "The new medication proved to be an effective."

To determine the part of speech, look at the context in which it's used.
