What do all words have in common?

All words have several things in common:

* They are composed of sounds. Even written words represent sounds, and those sounds are combined in specific ways to create meaning.

* They convey meaning. Words are the building blocks of language, and their primary function is to communicate thoughts, ideas, and emotions.

* They are part of a system. Words exist within a larger system of language, with rules of grammar, syntax, and semantics that govern their use.

* They are dynamic. Languages evolve, and new words are constantly being created, while others fall out of use.

While all words share these fundamental characteristics, they differ greatly in their specific meanings, pronunciations, and usage.
