What part of speech is worse?

"Worse" can be two different parts of speech depending on how it's used:

* Adjective: Describing something as being of a lower quality or standard.

* Example: "This cake is *worse* than the last one."

* Comparative Adjective: Comparing two things and indicating that one is of a lower quality or standard than the other.

* Example: "This cake is *worse* than the last one." (The same sentence as the first example, but here "worse" is specifically showing comparison.)

So, there isn't just one part of speech for "worse." It depends on the context of the sentence.
