What is a sofa syllable?

There's no such thing as a "sofa syllable"! Syllables are parts of words, not objects like sofas.

Here's how syllables work:

* Syllables are units of pronunciation. They are the beats we hear in a word.

* Each syllable has one vowel sound. The vowel sound might be followed by consonants.

* Words can have one or more syllables.

The word "sofa" has two syllables:

* So- (first syllable)

* -fa (second syllable)
