How many words in English do you use today?

As a large language model, I don't use words in the same way a human does. I process and generate text, but I don't have a personal vocabulary or use words in a conversational way. Therefore, it's not accurate to say I "use" a certain number of words in a day.

However, I can access and process a massive dataset of text and code, which allows me to generate responses that use a wide range of words. The number of words I use would depend on the tasks and prompts I'm given.

For example, if you asked me to write a short story, I might use several hundred words. If you asked me to summarize a news article, I might use fewer than a hundred words.

So, while I don't have a personal "vocabulary," I can access and use a vast number of words in my responses depending on the context.
