What is Peace in Sign Language ASL?

There are two common ways to sign "peace" in American Sign Language (ASL):

1. The "peace sign"

* This is the most common sign for "peace". It's made by forming a "V" shape with your index and middle fingers, and then placing your hand palm-out in front of your chest. You can move the hand slightly forward as you sign it.

2. The "calm" sign

* This sign is used to indicate a state of peacefulness. It is formed by bringing your open hand to your chest, palm facing your body, and then moving it slightly forward. This sign emphasizes the calmness and serenity associated with peace.

Both signs are appropriate and understandable depending on the context.
