Is the word is a word?

This is a bit of a tricky question! It depends on what you mean by "word."

* In the strictest sense, "is" is a word. It's a verb, one of the most common in the English language.

* But it's also a very short word. Some people might argue that it's so short it doesn't really count as a "real" word.

* And it's often used in a grammatical context. We don't usually say "is" on its own, but rather in a sentence like "The sky is blue."

So, the answer is yes, "is" is a word, but it's a special kind of word.
