What part of speech is large?

"Large" can be several parts of speech, depending on how it's used in a sentence:

* Adjective: Describing a noun. Example: "The large dog barked loudly."

* Noun: Referring to something big. Example: "The large of the two cakes was chosen."

* Adverb: Modifying a verb, adjective, or another adverb. Example: "The building was largely empty."

The most common use of "large" is as an adjective.
