Which alphabet forms the basis of English alphabet?

The English alphabet is based on the Latin alphabet.

Here's a little more about it:

* The Romans adopted the Greek alphabet and adapted it to their own language.

* The Latin alphabet became the standard for writing Latin, the language of the Roman Empire.

* During the Middle Ages, missionaries brought the Latin alphabet to England. It evolved over time, adopting some additional letters and becoming what we know today as the English alphabet.

So, while the English alphabet is its own unique system, it has its roots firmly planted in the Latin alphabet.
