What does permeable mean?

"Permeable" means allowing fluids (like liquids or gases) to pass through. Think of it like a sieve or a sponge.

Here are some examples:

* A permeable membrane: This allows certain molecules to pass through it, but not others. For example, cell membranes are permeable to some substances but not others.

* Permeable soil: Water can easily pass through this type of soil. This is good for plants as they need water to grow.

* A permeable fabric: This allows air to flow through it, making it good for clothing in hot weather.

The opposite of permeable is impermeable, which means that fluids cannot pass through. For example, a plastic bag is impermeable to water.
