What words have no plural?

There are several types of words that don't have a plural form:

1. Uncountable Nouns: These refer to things that can't be counted individually, like:

* Substances: water, air, sand, wood

* Concepts: happiness, advice, information, knowledge

* Materials: furniture, luggage, money, jewelry

2. Proper Nouns: These are names of specific people, places, or things.

* People: John, Mary, Shakespeare

* Places: London, Mars, the Amazon

* Things: the Eiffel Tower, Mount Everest, the Mona Lisa

3. Mass Nouns: These are similar to uncountable nouns, but often refer to a collection of individual items.

* Animals: poultry, livestock, fish

* Groups: staff, clergy, police

* Other: fruit, vegetables, furniture

4. Singular Nouns used as Plurals: Some words are grammatically singular but act as plurals, such as:

* Species: one species, two species

* Series: one series, two series

* Means: one means, two means

5. Words that are already plural:

* Scissors: You can't have one "scissor," only a pair of scissors.

* Trousers: Same principle as scissors.

* Pliers: You can't have one "plier."

Important Note: While many words fall into these categories, there are exceptions! For example, you can have "fishes" if referring to different types of fish, or you can say "informations" for emphasis.

It's important to consider the context and the meaning you want to convey when deciding if a plural form is appropriate.
