How many dimensions define a volume?

A volume is defined by three dimensions.

Think of it this way:

* Length: How far something extends in one direction.

* Width: How far something extends in a direction perpendicular to length.

* Height: How far something extends in a direction perpendicular to both length and width.

These three dimensions together create a space that has volume.
