The maori word for tea tree?

The Māori word for tea tree is mānuka.

While "tea tree" is often used to refer to the Australian plant *Melaleuca alternifolia*, the Māori word "mānuka" specifically refers to the New Zealand plant *Leptospermum scoparium*.

Both plants are in the same family (Myrtaceae) and have similar properties, but they are distinct species.
