When were the words et tu brute said?

The phrase "Et tu, Brute?" is famously attributed to Julius Caesar as his dying words.

However, there's no historical record of him actually saying it. The phrase was first recorded in William Shakespeare's play *Julius Caesar* (1599).

It's important to note that Shakespeare's play is a fictionalized account of historical events, and the authenticity of Caesar's last words is debated by historians.
