What did Poe originally want to call his journal The Stylus?

Edgar Allan Poe did not originally intend to call his journal *The Stylus*. He actually never published a journal with that title.

The name *The Stylus* is a misnomer often attributed to Poe's journal due to a misunderstanding of his literary plans. He did, however, intend to publish a literary journal, and he initially planned to call it "The Penn". He also considered the names "The Stylus" and "The Flagon and the Bottle" before settling on the title "The Penn".

However, Poe's ambitious journal project never came to fruition due to a lack of funding and support. He only published one issue of "The Penn" in 1841 before its unfortunate demise.
