When do you capitalize the word Intern?

You capitalize "Intern" when it's used as a formal title, like this:

* Intern John Smith is working on the marketing campaign.

* The Intern program at our company is very competitive.

However, you don't capitalize "intern" when it's used as a general noun:

* John Smith is an intern at the company.

* The interns are working hard on their projects.

Essentially, it follows the same rules as capitalizing job titles in general.
