What part of speech is nationwide?

"Nationwide" can be two parts of speech:

* Adjective: When describing something that covers or affects the entire nation, for example: "There was a nationwide blackout."

* Adverb: When modifying a verb, adjective, or other adverb, indicating that something happens or is done across the entire nation, for example: "The product was marketed nationwide."

The part of speech depends on its function in the sentence.
