What languages are spoken in Zaire?

Zaire no longer exists. It was renamed the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1997.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has four official languages:

* French: The primary official language and the language of administration and education.

* Kikongo: Spoken by a large portion of the population, mainly in the western part of the country.

* Lingala: Predominant in the northwest and central regions.

* Swahili: Mostly spoken in the eastern and southern regions, and is used as a lingua franca across the country.

There are also numerous other languages spoken in the DRC, estimated to be around 215, including:

* Luba-Katanga: Widely spoken in the southern part of the country.

* Tshiluba: Another major language spoken in the south.

* Mongo: Spoken in the north.

* Ngbandi: Spoken in the north-west.

* Many other Bantu languages

It is important to note that the language situation in the DRC is complex and diverse, with numerous dialects and variations within each language.
