Who is the person who knows most languages?

It's impossible to definitively say who knows the most languages in the world. There are a few reasons for this:

* No official record: There's no central authority tracking the number of languages people speak fluently.

* Defining fluency: What constitutes "knowing" a language varies. Someone might be able to understand and speak a language but not be fluent in reading and writing.

* Language diversity: There are thousands of languages spoken worldwide, and many are not well-documented.

However, there are some individuals who are known for their exceptional multilingual abilities:

* Ziad Fazah: He claims to speak over 58 languages, although this is disputed by linguists.

* Kenneth Hale: He was a linguist who spoke over 70 languages, focusing on endangered languages.

* Michael Erard: Author of "Babel No More", he speaks over 20 languages and researched multilingualism.

While these individuals are impressive, it's important to remember that the number of languages someone speaks doesn't necessarily reflect their knowledge of each language or their overall linguistic ability.
